The Transilvania Film Festival unveils the programming for the 2022 competition, a new documentary component | News

The Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF, June 17-26) has unveiled the 12 films that will be screened in its official competition.

Each title competing for the Transilvania Trophy will receive its Romanian premiere during the 21st edition of the festival, which will take place in the city of Cluj-Napoca.

The line-up includes Alejandro Loayza Grisi utamaa Bolivian drama about an indigenous couple trying to survive a drought, which won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Other titles include the directorial debut of French filmmaker Vincent Maël Cardona – Magnetic beats. The film centers on a young pirate radio DJ called up for military service and enlisted in West Berlin and it won the SACD prize for best French-speaking feature film at Cannes in 2021.

The Icelandic drama of Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson beautiful beings, which featured in the Berlinale’s Panaroma selection earlier this year, will also be screened in competition, as will the women’s bodybuilding drama Soft by rising Hungarian directors László Csuja and Anna Nemes.

The festival also launched a documentary competition and selected 10 feature film projects from new and emerging filmmakers.
